Teaching Diploma in Physics

The study programme for the teaching diploma (TD) for Matura schools in physics is aimed at people who – during or after their training at D-ITET – would like to acquire didactic training for teaching physics courses at Matura schools. The study programme for the TD physics is offered and coordinated by the department of physics (D-PHYS). Newly, a simplified access for students and alumnae of D-ITET is possible.

The award of the teaching diploma requires a qualifying university Master's degree (or equivalent). This ensures that holders of the TC have excellent specialist knowledge and experience with the scientific approach in their field of teaching. Interested people with a Master's degree in electrical engineering and information technology will find the Downloadtechnical prerequisites here (PDF, 151 KB) (in German only). In case of studies with a focus on electrical engineering or physics, the admission should be possible without further requirements.

Training for the teaching diploma aims at combining aspects from science, didactics, educational science and practical training. It contains mentored components in which students have the opportunity to plan lectures themselves, accompanied by a mentor, either in small groups or individually. During a teaching internship, students are accompanied by teachers at respective schools in order to deepen their own knowledge and enrich it with concrete teaching experience.

The TD comprises 60 credits ECTS and can be completed in parallel with a Master's programme, while studying for a doctorate, or on the job.

The didactic training for the TD physics is supervised by .
